Thorsteinn Bachmann is an Icelandic actor born in Reykjavik. He graduated from the Drama School of Iceland in 1991. Thorsteinn has worked extensively in Icelandic cinema, Tv and stage productions over the the last three decades.
He became internationally known for his lead role in the Icelandic film Life in a Fishbowl by Baldvin Z which had its world premiere in TIFF 2014. Following that he claimed more international attention in the role of Sigurdur the Harbour manager in Trapped 2015 and Netflix’ Tv series Katla 2021 by Baltasar Kormákur. Internationally produced titles include work in Sense 8, Tom of Finland, True Detective season 4 and The Darkness. His stage roles include lead roles like Hamm in The End Game by Samuel Beckett and MIchel Leproux in Do not Disturb by Florian Zeller.
Thorsteinn has also worked as an Artistic Director for Akureyri theatre company one of Iceland’s major theatre companies, a film producer for his own company 7 generations and a director for film and stage.
